Parents, the kids are in bed, it’s been a long day, especially if it is Friday or the weekend. All you want to do is sit on the couch, watch tv, read or just spend some time with your significant other or cruise the internet. Admit it, you know you want a glass of wine or a cocktail. Before you get too relaxed, to the point where you will have to drag yourself off the couch and into bed, do a couple of prep steps first.
Number One: Get ready for bed. Wash your face, brush your teeth (if you aren’t having that glass of wine), clear the bed off of toys or laundry (of which I just went and did), and get your room ready for sleeping.
Number Two: What else has to be done? Do the kids have a sporting event early in the morning or you have to be somewhere? If so, get together what you need. Take the animals out. Plug in your cell phone, turn the ringer off or to vibrate and turn it down!
Now you can sit down, relax and unwind. When your body doesn’t want to move off the couch and your eyes can’t stay open and all you want to do is fall into bed, you’ll thank yourself for doing the prep work first. I’ve learned the hard way and am always thankful when all I have to do is crawl into bed. Ok, so I have to pee first, I’m a mom after all!
